TechBBQ has become the heartbeat of the startup and innovation ecosystem in Scandinavia. It began as a humble BBQ gathering for tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs in 2013, but has since evolved into a large - scale summit that draws attendees from around the world for two days of inspiration, networking, and growth.
Who is TechBBQ?
TechBBQ is a nonprofit organization who serves as the heartbeat of the startup and innovation ecosystem in Scandinavia. Originating as a humble BBQ gathering for tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs in 2013, it has since expanded into various projects. This includes the annual large scale summit, drawing attendees from around the world for two days of inspiration, networking, and growth.
TechBBQ's commitment to fostering collaboration extends beyond the annual summit, encompassing initiatives like the Life Science Project, Impact Series, Hero Academy, and Social Impact. TechBBQ’s initiatives are all designed to connect, inform, and empower founders and the startup ecosystem.

To reach the venue, we highly recommend taking the Metro to Havneholmen St. which is approximately a 10-minute walk from the venue.
Copenhagen has an efficient public transportation system, including buses and the metro. You can plan your route using Rejseplanen.dk.
By Bike
Copenhagen is famous for its bike-friendly setup. You can rent a scooter or bike, or use your own to reach the venue. However, please note that there will be a limited amount of dedicated bike racks at the venue.

By Car
(NOT recommended)
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION: Lokomotivværkstedet will have no available parking spots due to the sheer size of our event setup, which will occupy a large part of the parking lot next to the venue. Furthermore, DSB has begun construction on the remaining parking lot in front of the venue.
You can opt for nearby parking at Fisketorvet, offering the first 2 hours of parking per day for free. For more information, click here.
Green transportation
TechBBQ has partnered with Cogo to provide diverse transportation options, including scooters and bikes. Cogo offers over 280 mobility operators, making it easy to find nearby rides. Attendees will receive a unique discount code for use on the event days.

Got a question during the event? Our dedicated volunteers are eager to assist you! You will see the Info Desk as soon as you walk inside the venue. If you have any questions or feedback, simply look for someone wearing a TechBBQ crew t-shirt and say hello.

Cloakroom / Luggage
The cloakroom is located outside on your right hand side after the check in tent. It is offered free of charge and will be staffed during all opening hours.

We encourage you to take a photo of your ticket number just in case. TechBBQ is not responsible for items left in the Wardrobe.
Accessibility
The event is accessible for wheelchair users. Admission is free for personal assistants of disabled persons, and guide and assistance dogs are warmly welcomed.
Please note that this historical building has layout quirks from its original use as a train workshop. While large sections are flat, some sections are not.
Assigning tickets
Before TechBBQ, it's crucial to assign your tickets. This ensures that everyone joining you at the event will have their own pass and access to the event platform, as well as all the essential information required for entry. The responsibility of ticket assignment falls on the individual who made the purchase.

We highly recommend downloading our event app as it offers a wealth of important features and information. These include matchmaking, pop-up events, practical details, and the overall stage program. Using the app, you can create a customized schedule to avoid booking meetings during crucial keynote speeches.
You will receive a link and join code when the platform opens 14 days before the summit begins.

Networking
Effective networking is crucial for events. Attendees seek not only knowledge but also valuable connections. A single impactful meeting can cover your ticket cost and open doors to significant business opportunities.
Our event platform allows you to create a profile with your intents, goals, and preferences. Based on this information, our matchmaking algorithms will analyze the profiles of other attendees and make recommendations on who you should meet.
All ticket holders will be invited to the platform 14 days before the summit begins. Once you finish your profile, you can begin to pre-book meetings. When a meeting is confirmed, you will automatically get a reserved table in our networking area within Lokomotivværkstedet. Nearly 90% of all meetings are booked before TechBBQ even begins. Why is this important? Because you will be prepared for the event, which will give you a more time-efficient experience.
Fun fact
Last year, our event platform facilitated over 17,800 meeting requests and attendees exchanged more than 26,500 1:1 chat messages in just two days!
Stage program
TechBBQ is gearing up to launch an extraordinary stage program spread across 9 dynamic stages, both indoors and outdoors. The program will feature over 340 speakers, including thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and industry experts. We have made significant efforts to ensure diverse representation on stage. We are proud to share that last year, 51% of our speakers were female and non-binary.

In addition to our garden view working tables with power outlets, we are pleased to share that Mutebox is sponsoring Silent Rooms, located in the workspace area. These private spaces are perfect for making calls or holding meetings, providing a quiet and focused environment during the event.
Outside Area
The outside garden at TechBBQ is not only visually appealing, but it also offers plenty of comfortable sitting areas for attendees to relax and engage with each other. Additionally, the garden is home to four session tents where speakers and panelists discuss a range of relevant topics.
Sustainability
TechBBQ has taken a comprehensive approach to sustainability by being a carbon-neutral event. In partnership with South Pole, a global climate advisor and carbon project developer, we have committed to balance TechBBQ's carbon emissions through investments in renewable energy projects.
Together with South Pole, we are conducting a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment of our annual summit. This assessment involves collecting data from various sources, including measuring emissions related to production, water and electricity usage, waste generation, flights, hotel stays, and the overall food and beverage consumption of all attendees during both days of the event.
To complement our carbon offsetting efforts, we have also implemented several sustainability initiatives, including minimizing printed materials, promoting sustainable transportation options, and using recyclable materials for items such as lanyards etc.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, TechBBQ has also partnered with One Tree Planted and Brella to plant a tree for every 10th meeting confirmed through our event platform.
We are proud to share that last year, we were able to compensate 804 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions through our investment in South Pole’s climate protection project: Doña Juana Landfill Gas, Colombia.
Additionally, we planted 610 trees in Southeast Asia through our partnership with Brella, thanks to the 6.104 accepted meetings we had during the event
