How Skytek helped TechBBQ keep the "office" in “home office”
From our office culture to the very core of our vision, TechBBQ is meant to be synonymous with community.
Faced with the challenges brought on by the pandemic, we relied on Skytek to help us establish a “new normal”. We found a new way of working that allowed us to maintain our productivity, while still keeping in line with our values.
Vibrant office culture
TechBBQ’s main office is in a co-shared space called Matrikel1 – a buzzing hub that houses all sorts of exciting organizations and startups. Located in the heart of Copenhagen, our workspace is dynamic, in every sense of the word.
Before the pandemic, we gathered every morning, in a small, vibrant office, ready to slay the day. Somehow, the tight space energized and motivated us to collaborate and maximize our working habits. Meetings took place face-to-face and solutions were reached organically and seamlessly. The casual, open and laid-back culture prevailed and everyone knew what to expect and how to operate.
Enter the pandemic…
At this point in time, it isn’t really necessary to explain the fact that COVID-19 completely turned the concept of “the workplace”, as we knew it on its head. Commuting to work, chatting about our weekend plans, and sharing a meal during lunch; it all became a thing of the past.
“
"When we all had to start working from home, it was hard to adjust to not having those conversations around the office that made the workday fun. That said, I'm really proud of how the TechBBQ team stepped up to do everything we could to keep our amazing culture alive in that period."
TechBBQ, like every other organization on the planet, was forced to think outside of the box: How to harness the power of community while forced to work remotely? Could the team remain as sharp when the new dress-code suddenly became sweatpants and the commute from the bed to the living room table?
“One of the best parts of working at TechBBQ is our team culture. When we all had to start working from home, it was hard to adjust to not having those little conversations around the office that made the workday fun. That said, I’m really proud of how the TechBBQ team stepped up to do everything we could to keep our amazing culture alive in that period.”

Enter SkyTek…
SkyTek has been helping companies switch to cloud solutions like Google Workspace for over a decade. They design infrastructure, take care of the technical setup, and migrate data and applications to the Google platform.
Simply put, Skytek uses modern technology to create a more efficient path to collaboration, task coordination, data, and document sharing.
TechBBQ was already using Skytek but the need for their services went from casual to downright urgent. There was simply no feasible way of working without using key Google tools, including Google Drive, Google Teams, and Google Docs.
“
"During the last two years, we learned how to adapt to working from home. What seemed very scary at first, became one of the best changes that happened in the work culture, in my opinion. Flexible work is here to stay."
It turns out that TechBBQ and remote working go together like “Google” and ”Workspace”. The benefits of remote working for an organization like ours have become clear. For such an international and vibrant team, it was crucial for us to find ways to keep up the pace, energy, and morale.
The unique flexibility of a hybrid work environment ended up providing us with the tools that we needed to thrive both during and after the harshest pandemic restrictions.
Skytek enabled TechBBQ to design a brand new way of working, which, not only helped navigate the obstacles presented by the pandemic but is also proving to be a sustainable way of working, even as conditions start to stabilize in Denmark.
Healthy balance
Currently, TechBBQ enjoys a healthy balance between working from home and from the office.
Once again, the team knows what to expect and everyone is able to operate efficiently. The sense of community never wavered and TechBBQ is fully embracing this hybrid way of working, which, let’s face it, is the future.
“During the last two years, we learned how to adapt to working from home. What seemed very scary at first, became one of the best changes that happened in the work culture, in my opinion. Flexible work is here to stay. The fact that meetings don’t have to be canceled just because people cannot come to the office physically made it so much more productive and enjoyable to work and to stay in touch with my colleagues.”
